Blog Makeover update & a Contest!
Well, this has come together pretty quick! I really didn’t think it would be this fast, of course it helped that my DD’s first day of pre-k was yesterday so I got a couple of free hours to work on it… lol. So what do you think? Here’s what I’ve done so far…
- Removed all blog/site links from the sidebars and the bottom of the blog and put them on their own page, check out the link in the menu at the top!
- Switched around the sidebar info. This was somewhat unintentional. I moved some things up and down then when I changed themes it switched them on me and I can’t figure out how to move the text boxes without having to re-write all the coding in it, and no I can’t copy/paste it. For some reason Wordpress won’t allow you to copy info in the sidebar boxes. Weird.
- So like I said, I changed the theme. I loved my previous one and still have it in case I decide to change back. But I wanted a theme that had images for the sidebar category headers. So I went looking and found this one, I think it works. It has the sidebar headers, 3 columns with the blog article one in the middle, it has the search bar at the top and the page menu along the top too.
- I moved the blog directories and stat counters to the footer.
- I moved the recipes off of the Series Index and gave them their own Recipes Index page.
- I figured out how to create columns on my pages and added some to the Index pages.
- I changed the top header and sidebar category headers, and changed all of the theme’s colours. That took forever! There was so much purple on this theme!
So I think that’s all I’ve changed so far. I still have a few things left on my to do list though. Here it is:
- Update the Series Index page.
- Update the About Me page.
- Create a fan blinkie/button just in case someone out there wants to add one to their forum signature &/or blog sidebar.
Contest!
Anyone want to make me a fan blinkie? That’s one thing I’m not so good at making… lol. I’d rather it not be really based on the look/colours of my blog since I change it seasonally. But something with my blog’s name… Monique’s Scrappin’ Blog!… and maybe the tagline which is… (not on the blog right now with the header I currently have) Scrap. Challenge. Inspire. I’m sure I could rustle up a little thank you gift for whoever creates my fave fan blinkie/button (doesn’t have to be animated) (and keep it at a reasonable forum allowed size of 150×50 pixels). Maybe I’ll send you a few blank hybrid cards, some of my fave recipes, a post-it notebook… just a few of my favourite things. And I don’t mind shipping it world-wide so feel free to submit a fan blinkie/button for my blog to mpdesigns@live.ca and if I see one I like I’ll announce a winner by… Sept. 22. So get creating and send it in in time to be reviewed!
