Blog makeover is… done!
So what do you think of the new look? In case you were wondering, here are the main steps I went through to makeover my blog!
- First I had to find a theme that I liked and could make changes to without too much difficulty. I wanted something different from what I had before so I found this one called Green Scrapbook Diary, when I first downloaded it it looked like this:
- Then I went into the Images folder and opened up the files I wanted to change.
- I picked a kit to use, I chose one of KCB’s newest kits called Blossom.
- I picked a solid coloured background, pasted it into the background file resizing it a bit. Then I used my program’s Tile Maker to create an image that was seamless and would work in a repeated blog background. I scrapped the banner as I would with anything else.
- Changed some other files like the section banners, between post border etc.
- Then came the hard part… coding. I had to go through the stylesheet file and play around with the colour codes until I had font colours that matched.
- Then I found that most of the font was done with one code, so I had to play around with my banner some more so that the font colour would work on the banner as well as in the post.
- That’s when I added the little paper strips that the pages are on. That took a while, I had to resize and move each one until it was centered under the text. I had to upload it over and over again to see where the text was on the banner and move those strips over and over again until it looked ok.
But it’s finally done, and I love it! If you’re reading this in a reader, here’s a screen shot of what my blog now looks like:
As I already said, the kit used is called Blossom by KCB. The pretty flower girl graphic is by Kate Harnovar, available in the To You From Me graphics set at PC Crafter. And the font used in my blog title is called DJB JACKED UP KINDA LUV by Lauren Grier and Darcy Baldwin.
So what do you think?
You might also have noticed that I removed the ads. I’ve had them on there for at least a year and haven’t made a dime from them, so I figured with my reduced blogging it was definitely time to remove all ads.
Ch-ch-ch-changes…
I’m feeling an itch to make some visual changes to my blog again. So don’t worry if you see things being moved around, being removed and coming back on, colours changing…lol. And feel free to let me know what you would like to see, what you would like to stay, or if you have any design ideas I’m all ears! I’m not really sure what I want, though I’m thinking of simple and scrappy… I wish I could use those Blog in a Box products that Shabby Princess, Shabby Miss Jenn and Zoe Pearn make but they aren’t for Wordpress
Any ideas?
Some cards to show!
I know, I don’t blog nearly enough any more. But life has gotten so busy! I have unpacked my crafting materials though and have found some time to make some cards! So I thought I’d show you what I’ve made recently.
First I’ll show you a photo of my mother’s day card that I made for my mom and for my mother-in-law last month before we moved… lol. I forgot to take the photo so I had my sister who still lives at home (I actually have 2 sisters who are still teenagers living at home) take the photo for me. Here it is:

Now I’ll show you the cards I’ve made for Father’s Day, the fishing themed one is for my dad – an avid fisherman. The BBQing card is for my father-in-law and hubby (I made 2), they both love to bbq so I thought it fitting.

I also put together some Goodbye/Miss you cards, I have a lot of friends who are moving away this year. That’s the consequence of having fellow military friends, we all move around a lot. So I made 4 of the same design so that I can have a few made up to give out.
- Tag reads: “We’ll miss you deerly”.

Tonight I put together a couple of baby girl congrats cards, one of my hubby’s co-workers just had a baby girl so I needed to make one up. And if I’m making one, I may as well get at least a spare done up too… lol. The digital portions are the same, I just did the finishing slightly different on each.
