Layout Recipe #75 – Colorful World

This week’s layout is one that I found while browsing the gallery at The Sweet Shoppe, it’s by Mel+hergirls and is entitled Colorful World! This layout caught my eye with it’s simple design, soft colours and gorgeous photo. I love the clustering of elements, and the choice of elements too is wonderful. What was your inspiration for the layout’s theme or design?

My daughter is always on the go. She is so active that it is a rare occasion that she sits still so I can capture a calm moment. In this picture she was examining my flowers and she looked at them and smelled them for the longest time. I knew when I took the picture that I would have to scrap with it!

What special techniques/actions/effects did you use if any in creating the layout?

In the photo I use selective coloring by duplicating the original picture and selecting the areas of the top layer that I did not want colored. Then I deleted the layers I selected and turned the photo to black and white with a light brown tone. I then blurred the background area in the picture using a gausian blur and sharpened the objects that are in focus.
