Layout Recipe # 69 ~ Saturday Afternoon Stroll
This week’s layout is one that I found while browsing the gallery at The Sweet Shoppe, it’s by scarletheels and is entitled Saturday Afternoon Stroll! This layout caught my eye with it’s simple style, the great colour combination, and that beautiful photo! I also love the added brushes on the photo and the way the scrapper lined the journaling alongside the photo. Please feel free to click on the image and leave this talented scrapper some praise!
Ingredients List:
- Retro Boy by Fee Jardine
- Lil Bit Cuckoo by Fee Jardine
- In the Garden by Fee Jardine
- Bubblegum Girl by Fee Jardine (alpha tabs)
- Doodlebet by Fee Jardine
- Little Black Stitches by Syrin
Font used: CK Higgins Handprint by Creating Keepsakes
What was your inspiration for the layout’s theme or design?
My inspiration was finally getting an opportunity to spend some one on one time with my oldest daughter, Claire. Our entire family is so ‘wired’. Sometimes, admittedly, we go through phases of being disconnected from nature and each other. This was such a simple moment, taking a walk on a Saturday afternoon, but it was very special.
What special techniques/actions/effects did you use if any in creating the layout?
As for special techniques, I recolored papers found in Fee Jardine’s Retro Boy kit so that they were more subdued and not fighting with the bold pattern of my daughter’s shirt, as well as compliment the colors in the photo. I played with the lighting and other aspects in Lightroom 2 and then finished the photo off with a free texture to give it a slightly worn/shabby look.
