Layout Recipe #68 ~ Who needs the slide

This week’s layout is one that I found while browsing the gallery at The Sweet Shoppe, it’s by Justine aka bellbird425 and is entitled Who Needs The Slide! This layout caught my eye with it’s beautiful fall colours, the cute clustering of elements and beautiful photos! I love the flowers sprinkled around the page, and the inspiration for this layout is so inspiring! Please feel free to click on the image and leave this talented scrapper some praise!

What was your inspiration for the layout’s theme or design?

Often when we go to this particular park, DD will play for a little and then run straight for this big old tree and that gave me the title of ‘Nature is your Playground’; plus I loved this kit by Kristen CB – so the photos, title idea and kit were my main inspiration and this cookie template made life a bit easier.

What special techniques/actions/effects did you use if any in creating the layout?

-For the photo treatments, I generally use Adobe Lightroom and just adjust the sliders till I’m happy, but for the framed photo, I added a solid brownish colour layer above my photo layer in Photoshop, ‘clipped’ it to it and used a ‘colour’ blend mode with reduced opacity to give it the more muted colour effect.
- I used a blend mode on the Nature word art too.
- Otherwise, I just relied on the cookie template and ‘bent’ some of the shadows which I often do for a more realistic effect.
