Works For Me Wednesday – a blogging tool

Hi everyone! Today I thought I’d participate in Works For Me Wednesday hosted by Rocks in my Dryer, a wonderful blog that’s a great read and who’s WFMW blog carnival has really taken off! Check it out for more great tips! And one thing that works for me and I don’t think I could live without is….

Windows Live Writer.

This free downloadable program keeps me organized in my blog writing, and also gives me so many more editing options than my blogging platforms give me. Some reasons I love this program include:

  1. I can work offline, and just hook up to the Internet when I am ready to publish a post.
  2. I have many photo editing options, rotate, crop, add drop shadow, add photo border etc.
  3. It’s super easy to add a hyperlink.
  4. I can even add a watermark to my photos!
  5. I have many font settings I can use, I can change the colour, the size and type of font… and it’s a lot easier than in my blogs’ admins.
  6. I can save as many post drafts as I want.
  7. And my absolute favourite thing about WLW…. I can write for many different blogs with one program! I currently have 4 different blogs set up with my Windows Live Writer! And you can use it with many different blog platforms, I currently have Wordpress blogs and a Typepad blog set up. I just select which blog I want my new post to be published on, write my post (save and work on off and on if necessary) and click publish when I’m ready for it to be published. I can even set a publish date for later if I want, then it will sit in my blog’s queue until that date and time. I love it!

    OUTSTANDING! I’m downloading it right now—-this will help me to keep up with my blog so much easier. No more having to open three programs just to edit photos and posts WHO KNEW!!! Thanks :)

    For me, this is the best tip I’ve gottten in awhile. Thank you very much. One way for me to stay better organized was to secure my domain name and point it to my blog which points to all my other accounts. That way, people only have to look for me by name and everything pops up from there.

    I’ve been using WLW for about a week and I love it! It’s so much easier than logging into each blog’s dashboard :)
