Intro into digital scrapbooking ~ links

I’ve been asked by many people what digital scrapbooking is, what do they need to get started, and how do they do it. So I thought that I would put together a little post full of links that I’ve found to be the best places to start at when looking into starting to digi-scrap. Enjoy!

Digital Scrapbooking 101 – start here if you have no idea where to start, it’s a short description of what digital scrapbooking is, and what you need to know in 5 steps.

Digital Scrapbook Place Tutorials -  this is the largest series of tutorials that I’ve found that are perfect for the beginner and that cover a good range of programs including PSP, PS and PSE. Some of their tutorials include Creating Your First Layout, Scrapping Techniques, Photo Manipulation and Effects, Giving Proper Credit and even a Glossary which includes a lot of the terms used in digital scrapbooking forums and communities.

Shop For Photo-Editing Software – click here to download a software comparison chart to help you decide which of the many programs might be right for you.

Hummie’s World Tutorials! - An amazing selection of tutorials separated into “classes”, many are available in a written format, and for subscribers she also offers video tutorials! Some of her basics include how to choose a program, printing, lingo of our digi-scrapping world, organizing, and “Necessary Basics – First Layout Tutorial”!

Cottage Arts Tutorials – this site has a large selection of tutorials, basic and program specific.

Scrapgirls’ Free eBook – Check out this free eBook called “15 Things You NEED to Know to Become a GREAT Digital Scrapbooker (FREE Starter eBook) “.

Digital Scrapbooking 101 - The place to learn digital scrapbooking. This is a new site that’s geared towards the beginner scrapper. Focuses mostly on Photoshop Elements and Photoshop CS3 programs.

Ready to get started? Don’t spend your money on scrapping products yet! Not until you’re really certain that this is what you want to get into, because trust me… it can get pricey with all the digital goodies available out there! Instead you should download a few of the many freebies available out there to test this hobby out and see what you think. Check out one of my previous blog posts with links to my top 10 places to find scrapbooking freebies.

A couple more places you might like to check out for inspiration and information include:

Digital Scrapbooking Magazine & Scrapbook etc’s digital scrapbooking online section.

  1. I started digi scrapping 2 years ago and loved it. But just ended up too overwhelmed with it. Thanks for these links. I’ll have to consider attempting it again.

And thanks for stumbling my mommy card giveaway! Very sweet!

    Blessings,

Yes, they have a great many tutorials, but people should also be advised that they only do 200 ppi there….so that they can make an educated decision for themselves what ppi they want to scrap in.
