Hybrid Hookup ~ Post-it notebook and tutorial!

You may have seen my Post-it notebooks, especially if you’ve been reading my blog for a little while now. I love ‘em! And so have the people that I’ve gifted them to so far! But the idea was not mine, I actually stumbled upon a tutorial and template for making them and just made them a bit differently for my situation, mainly the fact that I don’t have a great printer for printing the finished product out on cardstock at home. So I did some testing and played around with a few different options and came up with a great way of making them that’s still fairly cheap (less than 2$ each for me here in Canada, and that includes the notepaper inside) and quick and easy to boot! Now the blog that originally featured this little gem has closed, but I tracked down the creator of the template and got her permission to write up a new tutorial for making them. She also put the template up in her store so that you can all get it if you’d like to join me in making these little beauties. She’s only charging 1.50$ for it, and as I’m writing this it’s actually on sale at 50% off so go on over and get it now! And now I’ll let you in on how I use it to make mine, and here’s a picture of one of my fave ones to give you an idea of just how cute they are ;-)

Things you will need:

  • Template
  • Digi-scrapping supplies
  • 3×3 inch 100 sheet sticky notepad
  • 5/8th inch circle velcro
  • Full sheet label paper
  • scissors or straight cutter
  • ruler
  • scoring or butter knife (bare with me here lol)

Step 1 – using the template scrap your notebook.

Step 2 – place your finished (digital) notebook onto an 8×10 inch image file, you can fit 2 side by side. Print at local printer’s (I use Walmart and it only costs me 3$ to print, costing me 1.75$ each notebook)

Step 3 – apply to back of full sheet of label paper. I love this stuff ’cause it’s not too thick, you just peel the back and stick (no glue!). Now cut out your 2 notebooks using your scissors or straight cutter.

Step 4 – time to score the places where we’re going to fold. I place mine up to a sunny window so I can see through it, and with the blank side facing me I use a butter knife turned over so I’m not using the sharper side (or use a scoring knife if you’re lucky enough to have one, lol) and a ruler to trace the lines where the you will be folding. I like to have the ends a different color from the front and back, it makes it easier to see where I need to fold… and it looks cute too, lol.

Step 5 – fold! Fold along the lines where you scored. Then add your notepad into the center of the inside of your notebook. And finally, add your velcro pieces just inside the flap. You’re done!

If I missed any steps, things don’t make sense, whatever… just let me know and I’ll make some changes to make it better! Here are some more of mine to help get your mojo flowing!
