Layout Recipe #38 ~ Little John Deere Wagon!

As you can tell today is not Friday, but Monday and yet here is a new Layout Recipe! But no I haven’t lost my mind. I have a few other things in my life that I would like to take a little “break” from my blog to work on. Now when I say “break” notice I use quote marks. This is because I’ll still be posting the weekly Layout Recipes, they are just being moved from Fridays to Mondays. And I will still be doing the Tasty Thursdays providing you with a new recipe card every week. Of course I’m sure I’ll be adding the occasional tip, trick or tutorial post, the occasional review, and will show you the layouts I’m hoping to get caught up on. So I’m not really taking a break, so much as I’m just cutting back a little bit so I’m not spending soooo much time online every day… lol. So on to this week’s Layout Recipe!

This week’s layout was found while browsing through the gallery at the Sweet Shoppe, it’s by Kalli and is entitled Little John Deere Wagon! I love how the scrap artist decided to age the photo to help tell the tale of the wagon. The vintage feel of the layout and the story told are beautiful, a true gem of a layout. Please feel free to click on the image and leave this talented scrapper some praise!

What was your inspiration for the layout’s theme or design?

When Julie Billingsley put out the ‘Spin Your Wheels’ kit at SSD, it reminded my of some wagon photos I had never scrapped. This photo wasn’t really inspiring, but I wanted to tell the background of the wagon. And since I was talking about my dad when he was a kid, I decided to try to age the photo.

What special techniques/actions/effects did you use if any in creating the layout?

I used a free Lightroom preset (the ‘300 Look’)from Matt Kloskowski’s Adobe Lightroom Killer Tips website (http://www.lightroomkillertips.com/). Then, in PSE4 I applied an ‘aged texture’ overlay downloaded from the same website. I love Micheline Martin’s papers and her style worked really well with the effect, as did Robin Carlton’s vintage frame.

Thank you to my readers for checking out my blog today, I hope this layout has inspired you to mix and match some great products, and stretch your creativity! Please click on the layout above and leave this great scrapper some love!
