Tips, Tricks or Tutorials Tuesday!
Ok, well as I’m sitting here wondering what to blog about today I came up with the idea of a T3 Tuesday. I won’t be able to do this every week but from time to time I’ll give you some kind of tip, trick or tutorial and it’ll always be on Tuesdays for yah! So for this week’s T3 Tuesday post I’ll tell you about…. Keeping track of layout credits!
Here’s one that every new to scrapbooking person wants to know. How do they keep track of their layout credits so that every time they need them they don’t have to research it all over again. Well here’s what I do.
I have my layouts in 2 main folders, Finished Layouts (These are full size, ready to print copies) and a Web Copy Layouts folder (These are all resized for posting online, 72res and 500×500 pix) with sub-folders for each album I’m working on. The ones in the Web Copy Layouts folder is where I record the credits since those are usually the ones that I’m posting and needing the credits list for.
So once my layout’s saved in there I copy the title and create a new text file with the same name. This keeps the credits file right beside the image file all the time. In this text document I copy my journaling if there’s a lot of it since web copies are difficult to read small print on, and I create my Credits List. I list the product name and the designer name. Sometimes I list what specific item was from the product and always add (recolored) to the item list if you recolored anything, this way if someone goes to buy the product based on your layout they know that it won’t come exactly the way it’s seen in your layout.
I also list the name of any fonts I used. Most digital scrapbookers are also font addicts and it’s nice to see the name of a font used on a layout in case we want to try and find it for ourselves. A lot of my favourite fonts were found that way.
So that’s how I keep track of my credits for my layouts. Do you have a different method of keeping track of your long lists of credits? I’d love to hear how, you never know…. someone else might have a more convenient or easier method so why not share it with us?
