I made my first apron! Come see!

I am soooo excited I just have to show someone! I took a break yesterday from the computer and tried to make something I saw a tutorial for while doing some blog reading. I was at one of my favourite blogs that I found during the Fall Bloggy Giveaway event, The Apronista! I love that place, they’ve got me drooling over aprons almost every day! I even found a beautiful and affordable apron through their resources that I bought. So anyways! Yesterday I was checking out some of the links they have for tutorials to make your own (I’m terrible at sewing but I still like to dream, lol) and I found one for a No Sew Jeans Apron so I click on it and think, hey I might actually be able to make this!

So I dig out a pair of jeans that ripped a month or so ago (I’m a pack rat, so yes I still had them stashed away ’cause you never know when you might need them!, lol). So I dig them out and start cutting according to the tutorial. I try it on. But it’s kinda small for me ’cause the pants had been kinda snug before and trying to do up the snap at the back over top of the jeans I already had on was a bit too difficult, so I tried it on my DD! I trimmed the strap, added a stick on Velcro piece (I use them in my Post-it Notebooks) and voila! My DD has the cutest little jean apron!

But wait! That’s not cute enough for my almost 3 year old DD is it? She’s not a girly girl but I can’t just leave it like that can I? NO! So I went in search of embellishments and found…

Little red heart buttons, some pink fabric (ended up not using that though) and a pair of my DD’s old favourite pyjamas! So I started cutting some of that cute pink ruffle edging off of the jammies, and found there were also a few pink bows on the jammies! So I put it all together, using a need and thread as well as some glue and presto chango it now looks like this:

Isn’t she just the cutest little thing?! After putting the apron on her she got all silly posing for the camera… lol. I am so tickled pink with the results, I’m usually not all that great with anything crafty if it’s not digital. I love getting crafty, but I just don’t have the talent to do all the great stuff that I’d love to do. However this little thing turned out so darn cute I want to go to the Salvation Army and find me some more old jeans (Hopefully some much larger sizes so I can make myself one!) and go to Walmart to find myself some decorative trim to make some more! If you’re not great at sewing I definitely recommend this pattern! There’s no sewing for the basic apron and you can use double sided tape, glue etc for the finishing touches!

So that’s what I did yesterday that I was so excited to show you! Have you done anything creative yet non-digital lately?
