Layout Recipe #37 ~ Out of the Box!
This week’s layout caught my eye at the DST gallery, it’s by zsaliza and is entitled Out of the Box! I just love this layout so much! I love the dirty grungy feel of the box, but it has a pretty feel with those beautiful flowers and butterflies! And did she do a great job with that extraction or what?! And I love her idea of putting layouts in the “bottom” of the box squares. Please feel free to click on the image and leave this talented scrapper some praise!
Ingredients List:
- Box it Up-Shadow Box by Maya
- Mark My Word-Romance by Maya
- Weathered Treasure Kit by Maya
- Oh! Boy Stamped Alpha by Flergs
- Nana’s Secret Garden by Flergs
- Eeky Freaky by Lorie Davison
- Cardboard bits by Sausan Designs
- Bohemian Peddler Alpha by Krista Metler
- Unamused Boys Alpha Collection-Orange Chipboard Alpha by Jessica Bolton
- Studio Girls Say What? Word Art
What was your inspiration for the layout’s theme or design?
I have a picture of my son since last December but I couldn’t find the perfect element for it until I saw Maya’s boxes. I know my son’s favourite show at playhouse Disney channel is “Out of the Box” so I thought the picture & the box would go perfect together and they did!
What special techniques/actions/effects did you use if any in creating the layout?
The only technique I used is using the lasso tool to extract the photo. I also play with gradient tools to add shadows as to create realistic depth in the boxes.
Thank you to my readers for checking out my blog today, I hope this layout has inspired you to mix and match some great products, and stretch your creativity! Please click on the layout above and leave this great scrapper some love!

Tasty Thursday ~ Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate!
Happy Thursday everyone! It’s Tasty Thursday and I have 2 recipes for you today! They are both yummy chocolate recipes! Oh, the Fudge Brownies recipe is one that’s for my Kitchen Aid mixer and that’s why it might sound kind of weird (the speeds to use are listed). And what’s so wacky about the last recipe? There are no eggs in the recipe, but it does use vinegar! But don’t be afraid to try this wacky cake, it is sooooo yummy and moist it really is worth making! Enjoy!

Wedding Album Layout Ideas
Today I thought I would share with you the list I put together a few years ago of wedding album scrapbook page ideas. I put the list together when I was trying to put together a mini album of my wedding. Unfortunately I got sidetracked and only got about six or seven layouts done… lol. But I thought someone else might benefit from my list, so here it is! Enjoy!
- Cover
- Wedding prep
- Aisle walk
- Vow and ring exchange
- The kiss
- New couple photos
- Wedding party photos
- His and Hers family photos
- Guest group shot? (Our wedding was small, only about 30 people including ourselves, lol so this shot was possible for us!)
- The gifts
- The dinner
- The cake
- The first dance
- The Father/Daughter, Mother/Son dance
- Groups dancing
- Bouquet toss
- Garter toss
- Candid Moments
- Wedding Song
You can definitely get many layouts out of some of the above topics, and skip those that don’t apply to the wedding you’re scrapping. But those were the layout goals I had for myself, hope that helps someone else out there get a wedding album finished!
Want to see a few of the layouts I did manage to scrap for my wedding album? Ok, but keep in mind these are a couple years old… lol.
And yes I used a winter kit for a reason, I was married in January! Crazy I know, lol. Kit used is called “Glistening Snowflakes” by Kimberly Stewart.
There are only a couple more days left to submit your answers to the I Spy layout game and to submit your layouts for the challenges! For a full list of the activities check out the BRAG month activities list post! Saturday I’ll be drawing names for the remaining prizes!
