Busy, Busy, Building!

Buys, busy, busy… that’s been us all day today! Ally woke up early so we got an early start on our grocery shopping today, getting home with everything put away by 10am! Then I got dishes washed, laundry washed and hung out on the clothes line, tidied up around the place… lots got done! Then after lunch we got started on the gate for the top of the stairs. Yes I could buy a baby gate, but I would have to search and search then spend loads of money on one because our stairs are extra wide… 48 inches wide! So our best bet was to use some pressboard we already had in the basement and make our own. And that’s what we did! Here are some pics!

Yes Ally got to help, and that’s when the camera came out…lol. So the first photos on the right are Ally helping to screw in the hinges, the the next 2 are of the gate itself once it was installed. The last photo at the top is Ally’s bed, now with a toddler bed attachement on the side! I’ve been wanting to change her bed for weeks but my biggest fear is Ally falling down the stairs because she’s groggy waking up early and stumbles, falling down. I’m terrified of that happening! She’s fine during the day, she’s caustious around the stair area, but if she’s just gotten out of bed she’s not always perfectly stable on her feet. So we finally got the gate built and now her bed is changed! We’ll see how she sleeps tonight! But there’s a problem with it, we bought the attachement seperately, it was supposed to go with her bed model. Well, you need 2 screws on each end to hold it in, there’s only 1 on each end in the bed! So it’s in there with just the 2 instead of 4 screws for now, it’s tight so unless you really push on it it doesn’t budge. We’re trying to track down the product info and manufacture info to figure something out. But we bought it 2 1/2 years ago so not sure if anything can be done.

SO that’s what we’ve done so far today, right now hubby and Ally are napping on seperate couches downstairs so I thought I’d take this time to blog a little. I’ll post my layouts of the week tomorrow if I can, it’s Canada Day here tomorrow so we’re going to be a bit busy with the festivities going on on base this year. But I’ll take loads of photos, and try to blog tomorrow night if I’m not completely bushed! LOL…
