Where was I yesterday?
Well, I didn’t get as much computer time as I normally do… but since DD doesn’t take naps anymore computer time is always limited now. In the morning I checked forums and blogs, there was plenty to read. Then in the afternoon when I did get a few minutes to myself here and there I was working on future posts instead of writing one to post right away. Then last night hubby finally got his new golf club set (we ordered a set for each of us like…. 2 months ago!) Mine were in the day before, and his just came in last night. So after Ally went to bed we compared our sets (his bag is waaaaay nicer than mine!) then we went online to look at bags ’cause I want something nicer. He says mine’s not as nice probably because women are expected to get a cart instead of carrying them. Hubby’s has a retractable legs to stand it up while playing, and a nice harness to easy carrying. Mine has none of that. Plus I want something lighter in color and girlier…lol. Mine’s black and maroon.
So when did I start golfing you say? Well, I’ve never played before…lol. Yes we bought clubs without actually playing first. I’m short, 4 foot 10 inches kind of short. So it’s hard for me to find anything I can rent that isn’t waaaay too long. So before I got discouraged and gave up because of the clubs, we bought some. Not super high end, we spent about 300$ on each set and got a bag and I think 9 or 10 decent clubs shortened and angeled just for us. After I picked mine up I hit a few balls to see how they were and I was hitting every one, and was getting almost 100 yards which is pretty good for being my first time ever! I just need to work on my stance, grip, swing etc… So last night I was also reading up of golf tips. We’re hoping to go and just hit some balls once a week, and maybe play a game once every couple weeks too. I’ve never seen a golfer who walked the green and was fat, so my hope is that this will help me loose that 35Lbs I’ve been trying to loose for 2 years now. I love walking, I love being outside…. it can be a non-competitive game, no contact, I think I’ll really like it. The golf club in town has a men’s night once a week and a ladie’s night once a week, so we’re hoping to start going to that maybe once a month too. Meet some new people, outside of the military base and life… and have some fun. The ladie’s and men’s nights have tons of prizes you can win.
So this is going to be our new hobbie. Something we can do together, but can also go alone with friends instead. This also opens up some more gift ideas for family and each other when our birthday or Christmas rolls around. There are great expensive gift ideas if it’s a good year, and there are plenty of small inexpensive things that make great stocking stuffers. I think one of the biggest perks about the game though is it’s something we can do together. My scrapbooking is just that, mine… his gaming is his thing… we’ve found it hard to find things we can do fitness wise too that we both enjoy and could do together. So I’m looking forward to golfing, now to find a babysitter! LOL, my hubby’s SGT. at work has a daughter who’s 14 I think, she likes kids and loves playing with them so I think we may hire her to start babysitting Ally when we want to play. There is a park pretty much in our back yard, no streets to cross or anything (they don’t even need to go anywhere near a street to get there!) so there’s plenty for them to do. So we may start doing that. Then there’s a golf tournament for my hubby’s unit he works for in August that we’d like to go to… spouses are invited this year too. So we’re hoping to be able to go, my mom should be here that weekend so we’ll have an all day sitter. The tournament includes lunch and dinner and the game starts early-ish too I think, so we need someone who can watch Ally all day for us.
And that’s what I’ve been up to, checking out golf stuffs. So how about you? Any scrapping golfers out there besides me? Well, I’ve gotta go now… the boy I’m babysitting will be here soon, then I’ll have to get out of my jammies and get Ally up so we can go outside soon, it should be a nice day today (fingers crossed). TTYL!
